BACON!

Oh how I love bacon. But don't you just hate standing over the frying pan with hot bacon grease splattering.

A super easy way to avoid this is to bake your bacon in the oven. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Lay your bacon on a baking tray, remember that it will shrink, so you can squish them on. Depending on how you like your bacon, it will take anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes. Cook until done to your liking. Remove from tray, tongs are great for this, and enjoy. I usually bake up a whole package at a time and then store the rest in the fridge, reheating as I need it.

You could also line your tray with foil which makes for easy clean up.

I love this method, but here's how big an idiot I am: last time I tried this, I had lost my trusty jelly-roll pan. I put the bacon on a freakin' flat (no sides) cookie sheet. The only thing that prevented a massive grease fire in my oven was the band of angels who were working overtime that day. D'OH!!

I also ♥ making bacon this way! It doesn't shrink up and I have my stovetop free for omelets, scrambled eggs, pancakes, etc. At first, it seems like the bacon is cooking kind of slow...but I find that once you flip it over, it finishes crisping up pretty fast!

When I do bacon in the oven, I also like to put slices of bread on a higher up rack. It toasts nicely this way, and I don't have to drag the toaster out ☺

So, I always have problems with smoke bilowing out of the oven, when greasy type items splash on the heat coils above... does anyone else have this problem and does this happen when you cook bacon this way? Other than that, sounds great and love the idea of putting bread above to toast.

Well, I didn't do it in the oven last night, but it did inspire me to make BLT's for dinner on some of that Dave's killer bread. Yum. I love mayo.

I love bacon. I've never tried baking it in the oven before. Sounds delish.
